New Build Energy Assessor Course

Energy Assessor College’s New Build (OnCon DEA) course is broken into four, two-day classroom based modules, based on the units 1, 2, 3 and 4 of the National Occupational Standards (NOS) for On Construction Domestic Energy Assessors. It leads to the ABBE Level 3 Diploma in On Construction Domestic Energy Assessment and the opportunity of a New Build Energy Assessor career.

Studying on a new build energy assessor course

The New Build Energy Assessor Diploma is a Vocationally Related Qualification (VRQ). Unit 1 of the NOS for On Construction Domestic Energy Assessors covers working as an energy assessor in a safe, effective and professional manner. Unit 2 covers preparing for SAP energy assessments. Unit 3 covers undertaking SAP energy assessments. Unit 4 covers producing Compliance Submissions, Predicted Energy Assessments & Energy Performance Certificates.

Once you’ve been selected for New Build Energy Assessor training and have enrolled on the course, your first step will be to book and attend the first module.

After you’ve taken the first module you simply complete the required home revision and then sit and pass the module test to ensure that sufficient knowledge has been gained to move on with your New Build Energy Assessor career. Your next step is to book the next module and repeat the cycle through the remaining three modules.

Each of the four New Build Energy Assessor training modules consists of two days classroom based training in our state of the art training and assessment centre. Modules run Monday to Saturday, 9.00am – 5.00pm.

The next step after completing the four modules is to produce five SAP reports and EPCs independently on a range of different domestic architectural drawings and specifications. An Energy Assessor College assessor will evaluate your five SAP reports and EPC’s. These SAP reports and EPC’s contribute towards your Portfolio of Evidence, which is a record of knowledge, understanding and competence gained during training and is a requirement of the ABBE Diploma before embarking on your New Build Energy Assessor career.

The final stage of the course is to take the external exam set by ABBE, the awarding body and once this is passed, you are awarded the ABBE Diploma in On Construction Domestic Energy Assessment.
