A career in New Build Energy Assessment
Once you have qualified as a New Build Energy Assessor you can either start your own Energy Assessment business and source your own work, be employed by an Architectural practice, property developer, national house builder or potentially work on a self-employed basis with an EPC panel management company such as EAC’s associated company Energy Assessments Direct.
After successful completion of your training and accreditation you will be invited to join Energy Assessments Direct and potentially be provided with assessments on a self-employed basis. Energy Assessments Direct aims to gain a share of the national energy assessment market providing New Home Builders, Developers, Architectural practises, Commercial Agents, Commercial Landlords, Estate Agents, Conveyancing Professionals, Solicitors, HIPs Providers, Local Authorities, Private Landlords, Housing Associations and Home Owners with the best trained, Multi-Skilled Energy Assessors in the industry. Due to EAC’s demanding selection process and training program, only Energy Assessors trained with EAC are invited to join Energy Assessments Direct.
New Build Energy Assessor’s Potential Income
Because of the wide range of new build domestic property that falls within the capabilities of a Level 3 New Build Energy Assessor it is impossible to set a standard fee for each EPC. The work needed to carry out the data collection and entry into the SAP software to produce the SAP report and EPC will mean each commission will be different. As a guide, to produce the SAP report and EPC on an average size domestic building will potentially take between 3 and 4 hours, (this will vary depending upon the Assessors experience and ability) at a conservative hourly rate of £30 per hour this would result in an average of £90-£120 per report and EPC. A minimum of 8 EPC’s each week with an average fee income of £105 would generate a gross fee income of £840 per week or £43,680 per year. Operating costs are likely to minimal and consist mainly running a small home-based office, as most contact can be carried out by phone, post and email.
