Commercial Energy Assessor Course

Energy Assessor College’s Commercial (NDEA) course is broken into four, two-day classroom based modules, based on units one, two and five of the National Occupational Standards (NOS) for Non Domestic Energy Assessors and leads to the ABBE Level 3 Diploma in Non Domestic Energy Assessment.

Studying on a commercial energy assessor course

The Commercial Energy Assessor Diploma is a Vocationally Related Qualification (VRQ). Unit 1 of the NOS for Non Domestic Energy Assessors covers working as an energy assessor in a safe, effective and professional manner. Unit 2 covers preparing for energy assessments of non-dwellings to produce EPCs. Unit 5 of the NOS covers undertaking energy inspections of existing non-dwellings with typical characteristics.

Once you’ve been selected for the training and have enrolled on the commercial energy assessor course, your first step will be to book and attend the first module at the Energy Assessor College.

After you’ve taken the first Commercial Energy Assessor training module you simply complete the required home revision and then sit and pass the module test to ensure that sufficient knowledge has been gained. Your next step is to book the next module and repeat the cycle through the remaining three modules.

Each of the four Commercial Energy Assessor course modules consists of two days’ classroom based training in our state of the art training and assessment centre. Modules run Monday to Saturday, 9.00am – 5.00pm.

The next step after completing the Commercial Energy Assessor course is to produce three EPCs independently on a range of different commercial property types. An Energy Assessor College assessor will evaluate your three EPC’s. These EPC’s contribute towards your Portfolio of Evidence, which is a record of knowledge, understanding and competence gained during Commercial Energy Assessor training and is a requirement of the ABBE Diploma.

The final stage of your Commercial Energy Assessor training is to take the external exam set by ABBE, the awarding body and once this is passed, you are awarded the ABBE Diploma in Non Domestic Energy Assessment.
